TMT bars go into the machine as 12 m stock and come out as off-cuts — bends, short ends, rejected pieces. In most fabrication units this pile grows by the day and leaves at whatever mixed rate the buyer quotes at the gate. The pile is worth less than the steel inside it, and the difference is almost all lost structure: mixed lengths, mixed diameters, no handling.
A buyer pricing a mixed pile prices for the worst piece in it — they have to sort it themselves or guess. Long bends tangle, diameters vary, and nobody can count what is actually there. Sorted loads are the opposite: one diameter, one length, stackable, countable. Same steel, better position in the negotiation.
Off-cuts cut into uniform lengths stop being tangled waste:
A bar shear handles bar stock — TMT, round, square, bent or straight. It does not cut long pipe, sheet or angle cleanly. For angle and flat sections, the vertical and horizontal machines are the ones built for it. Match the machine to the pile, not the other way round — see the buying guide for the full published table.
Bars come off the cutting bench → 16 mm and below go to the hopper machine for 200 mm pieces, 20–25 mm go to the shear machine → pieces drop into one collection tub per size → tubs empty into the sorted stock whenever the pile would start to tangle. Two minutes of sorting at the machine saves an afternoon at the gate.
